IL DUO CON SILVIA CHIESA
Un sodalizio artistico può contemplare una condivisione di vita privata, di sentimenti, di pariteticità quotidiana? Nel caso di Silvia Chiesa e di me, direi di sì.
La prova, in venti anni di attività di duo, è nella tangibile diversità e varietà di repertorio e nella continua voglia di scoprire nuove opere, affrontare insieme nuove sfide, far sì che il duo per violoncello e pianoforte sia “soltanto” un punto cardine di ciò che ognuno di noi due fa regolarmente in veste di solista o comunque di artista indipendente, nel sento etimologico del termine. Una complementarietà necessaria, fondamentale, ad una dimensione musicale che vivo a trecentosessanta gradi, senza deroghe.

DUO WITH SILVIA CHIESA
Can an artistic partnership include a sharing of private life, of feelings, of everyday equality? In the case of Silvia Chiesa and myself, I would say yes.
The proof, in twenty years of duo activity, is in the tangible diversity and variety of repertoire and in the constant desire to discover new works, to take on new challenges together, to ensure that the cello and piano duo is ‘only’ a pivotal point in what each of us does regularly as soloists or, in any case, as independent artists, in the etymological sense of the term. A necessary complementarity, fundamental, to a musical dimension that I live in all three hundred and sixty degrees, with no exceptions.
Descrivere questi vent'anni appena trascorsi insieme a Silvia, dunque, significa per me essere orgoglioso di aver scoperto insieme a lei il mondo, attraverso la musica, nei cinque continenti: lingue, culture, religioni, realtà gastronomiche ed etnografiche diverse, sempre con la curiosità di percepire come io e lei, insieme, potessimo offrire in ogni frangente il nostro spirito di empatia e la nostra voglia di comunicare.
Oggi, dunque, posso semplicemente pensare ai prossimi anni, senza pormi alcun limite di tempo, affinché il duo Silvia Chiesa / Maurizio Baglini possa continuare nella propria autonomia artistica, grazie a profonde riflessioni quotidiane, alla dedizione allo studio, all'analisi della contemporaneità socio-politica, alla scoperta di nuovi orizzonti, siano essi musicali o più in senso lato culturali.
I numeri, le cifre, i traguardi, i titoli di repertorio, dunque, restano per me un effimero dato di fruizione mediatica della nostra attività.
Describing these twenty years that I have just spent together with Silvia, therefore, means for me being proud to have discovered the world together with her, through music, in the five continents: different languages, cultures, religions, gastronomic and ethnographic realities, always with the curiosity to perceive how she and I, together, could offer our spirit of empathy and our desire to communicate at every juncture.
Today, therefore, I can simply think of the next few years, without setting myself any time limit, so that the Silvia Chiesa / Maurizio Baglini duo can continue in its artistic autonomy, thanks to profound daily reflections, dedication to study, analysis of socio-political contemporaneity, and the discovery of new horizons, be they musical or more broadly cultural.
The numbers, the figures, the goals, the repertoire titles, therefore, remain for me an ephemeral datum of media fruition of our activity.
Nella continua ricerca di onestà intellettuale, di conseguenza, vi presento, in questa pagina, quello che è il progetto “pilota” di tutto il mio modus operandi, modus vivendi. Semplicemente, il mio essere musicista grazie alla complicità di (e con) Silvia.
In my ongoing quest for intellectual honesty, therefore, I present to you, on this page, what is the ‘pilot’ project of my entire modus operandi, modus vivendi. Quite simply, my being a musician thanks to the complicity of (and with) Silvia.
