In 2013 Maurizio Baglini is entrusted with the musical programming of the Teatro Comunale “Giuseppe Verdi” of Pordenone: the pianist thus becomes the youngest artistic consultant in Italy of an institution with a strong public participation.
His purpose is to transform a town that is already a reference point for cinema and literature in a lighthouse also for music.
Originality of the programmes, excellence of the performers, attention to the young people, dialogue with the audience: these are the criteria that inspire him, which become concrete in always very varied, surprising and free from stereotypes concerts.
Special projects are created, dedicated to single instruments or particular themes such as the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Worthy of note are the celebrations dedicated to Pier Paolo Pasolini in 2015, on the fortieth anniversary of his death: the concert "Homage to Pasolini" - with an original piece commissioned by Baglini to Azio Corghi - was recorded live and published by Decca in a monographic CD: concert and album have had a remarkable media coverage, distinguishing itself among the most significant events of the celebrations in honor of the great poet and intellectual.
With Baglini the theatre also becomes a respected institution of editorial production, starting with the publication of the volume Time Mirror by Piero Rattalino, followed by The cello voices by Sandro Cappelletto, for the types of Ets.
An important goal is the debut in Pordenone of the Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester, the prestigious youth team founded by Claudio Abbado, that in 2017 has chosen the theatre Verdi as summer residence for two years.
In particular the concert conducted by Herbert Blomstedt marks a milestone in the musical history of the town that thus becomes a part of the prestigious concert circuit of the GMJO next to Berlin, Amsterdam, Prague, Dresden, London, Milan, Turin, Leipzig and Salzburg.
The project is financed in large part by the Department of Production Activities of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, which appreciates its important socio-cultural and economic implications.
In these years the Teatro Comunale of Pordenone has been able to attract world-famous performers, reinforce the bond with its audience, which is increasingly young and international, and gain the approval of the cultural and musical press, thus reaching the standards of the most qualified concert realities on the European scene.
